Project Engineer Networking / Video Solutions

1. General

Present in both Belgium and The Netherlands, Tein Telecom builds high-value technical tailor made solutions in different areas such as digital video surveillance solutions based on IP Networks, complex voice solutions and networking solutions.

With a technical staff of 85 highly qualified people, the company has reached a high level of expertise in multimedia integration.

2. Responsibilities

2.1. Project Based:

  • Take the technical responsibility of a project in close collaboration with the Project Manager and in respect of the project specifications.
  • Prepare future installations in lab environment and execute tests before delivery
  • Install and commission the solution at the customer site including:
    • Final acceptance tests signed by the customer for approval.
    • User and Administrator training sessions.
    • Documentation of the installation.
  • Identify, log, describe, escalate and follow up until resolution all issues arising during project implementation.
  • Act as PM for "small" projects where no dedicated PM is defined.

2.2. Maintenance

  • Execute first line corrective maintenance 24H/7D in the Benelux on different products / technologies following the competence matrix of the company.
  • Execute preventive visits based on a predefined schedule and following the rules of the company.
  • Identify, log, describe, escalate and follow up until resolution all issues arising during maintenance activities.
  • Use the available spares during interventions, return defects to the repair center following the correct internal rules of the company and escalate any issue to his manager.
  • Update site documentation after intervention (software release, installed base...).

2.3. Non project based

  • Participate in tests setups required for demo, exposition and/or product validation.

2.4. Administration

  • Report about daily activities (Time sheets or equivalent) to his manager to allow the company to:
    • Report to customer about problem resolution.
    • Report to PM about project costs and evolution.
    • Report to the management about Quality of the Service, risks, profitability of projects.
  • Keep his manager and the help desk aware of all activities to allow a better time management of the service team.

2.5. Resources

Make a proper usage of the tools put as his disposal by the company.

3. The position's requirements

3.1. Education, Knowledge & Work Experience

  • Industrial engineer in Telecommunication or ICT.
  • 3 to 5 years professional experience in telecommunication.
  • Working knowledge in Transmission and Wireless technologies / Protocols; CCNA certified is a plus.

3.2. Required skills

  • Fluent in French, Dutch and English.
  • Excellent communication skills, open mind, innovative. 
  • Willing to work in a managed team, to use standards and contribute to the team knowledge.
  • Flexibility - ready to work outside normal working hours when required.
  • Reactivity - Ready to answer to any kind of request in an acceptable timeframe.
  • Availability - Development is a team work requiring physical communication between colleagues.
