Beginning of 2002, the Flemish government selected Tein Telecom for the supply, the commissioning and the maintenance of a large network for the remote monitoring and the video control of the Antwerp-Brussels and Antwerp-Leuven channels.

This project is part of an ambitious automation project spearheaded by Belgium's Flemish government to centrally manage the operation of bridges and locks on the region's waterways. The system is currently deployed over 38 sites.
This project has been realized in association with Egemin, responsible for the infrastructure works (masts, cameras, fiber, power supplies, etc.), whilst Tein Telecom implemented the Gigabit Ethernet (40 nodes), the video transmissions (193 cameras), and the global system management.
Images from cameras at the bridges and locks are transmitted via a high speed IP network to the central monitoring station, providing authority staff with multiple views of each location to safely direct traffic.
Splitters are used to send video both to the central monitoring station for live viewing and to video recorders for archiving.
Video software integration with the remote control system of the locks and bridges (SCADA system) is part of the project.
