City of TongresIn January of 2010, the city of Tongres attributed its urban video surveillance project to Tein Telecom. This was an opportunity for Tein Telecom to demonstrate its capabilities with regards to a global approach in the surveillance of cities and communes.

The request from Tongres was to equip this important historical city with nine cameras in the city centre, in support to the local police force. In order to respect the historical character of the city, we opted for a wireless solution in order to avoid deploying heavy and invasive cabling infrastructure.
At the client's request, we used swing-poles, supplied by the company Armamast, for the first time for the fixation of the cameras.

The particularity of the project resides in the integration of the surveillance cameras with access control to protected areas, through the use of retractable bollards. This required a close collaboration with the company Lowist, chosen by the city for the delivery of this equipment. As soon as a local resident presents himself at the control point, a signal is sent to the camera which is then directly orientated towards the spot where the action is taking place. The images of the scene are automatically recorded for future use by the police.

Moreover, this manner of functioning allows for the effective use of the bandwidth available over the wireless link.

This project demonstrates once again Tein Telecom's competence as an integrator of complete solutions with regards to video surveillance.
